Privacy policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
El Retiro has no accounts of its own, no ads, no analytics and no cookies, and it has no official servers, so we keep no player data. Your games stay on your computer. Data is only processed when you use the online features, which are optional.
1. Controller
The controller for the game El Retiro and this website is Pedro Antonio Pelaez Jimenez. For any question or request about your data, write to [turn on JavaScript to see the address].
2. What data is processed and why
- Epic Games account (optional). If you sign in with Epic, the game receives from Epic your account identifier, your display name, your friends list and your online status. They are used to play with your Epic friends (see who is playing, invite, join their games), show your friends that you are playing, and check that you own the game. We never see your password.
- Shared games (optional). The other players in your game see your character's name and looks and what it does in the game, and the connection between computers makes your IP address known to them. The game has no official servers: every shared game is hosted by a player, on their computer or on a server they set up, and whoever hosts it keeps in their saved game the character and identifier of every player who has been in it. When you share a game, the game asks an external service for your public IP address to show it to you.
- This website. It uses no cookies or analytics. The server records in its technical logs the IP address, date and requested page of each visit, only to keep it secure.
If you play offline without signing in with Epic, we receive no data about you.
3. Who receives the data
- Epic Games, Inc., which provides the game's online services (Epic Online Services) and processes the data as an independent controller under its privacy policy. Epic may receive technical connection data even if you don't sign in. Epic is based in the United States, so data may be processed outside the European Economic Area with the safeguards its policy describes.
- The other players in the games you share, as described above.
- The IP address lookup service, only when you share a game.
We don't sell or pass data to anyone else, or use it for advertising or profiling.
4. Legal basis
The online features process data to provide what you ask for when you use them (Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation). Checking that you own the game and the web server's logs rely on the legitimate interest in the security of the game and the website (Article 6(1)(f)).
5. How long data is kept
- Data on your computer, until you delete it or sign out of Epic.
- Data in a shared game, until whoever hosts it deletes that saved game.
- The web server's logs, 30 days at most.
- Messages you send us, as long as needed to answer you.
6. Your rights and how to delete your data
You can ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability by writing to [turn on JavaScript to see the address]. You can also:
- Sign out of Epic in the game, and delete your games from the menu or by uninstalling the game.
- Remove El Retiro's access to your account in your Epic Games account settings ("Apps and Accounts"). For the data Epic holds, see its privacy policy.
- For your data in a game hosted by another player, ask them to delete it: we have no access to it.
You can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es) or the data protection authority of your country.
7. Children
We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you are under 14 (or the age of digital consent in your country), you need your parent's or guardian's permission to sign in with Epic and play online.
8. Changes
If the way the game handles data changes, we will update this policy and its date.
